Evanston Masters 2013-14 Winter Season

The 2013-14 Winter Season at Evanston Township High School is in full swing!

Read the registration info and then visit the member signup page.

And don't forget your 2014 USMS Membership.

Thinking about joining?  Evanston Masters (aka, The Wild Catfish) is a masters swim team that strives to provide quality workouts and plenty of social fun.

Looking to get in shape or stay in shape?  We have nine graduated lanes, starting with novice lap swimmers and ending with former college swimmers.  Our age range is roughly 19 to 80.  Our practices typical have one coach covering three lanes, with each coach running the practice and providing advice on technique.

Looking to meet some fellow swimmers and hang out?  In addition to the camaraderie with the folks in your lane, you’ll probably enjoy the Catfish team parties and post-practice social outings that are scheduled throughout the season.

The first time is always a bit scary, of course.  Just show up, meet the coaches, and try a free practice.  You'll love it!

We are located at Evanston Township High School on Dodge, immediately south of Church.  Free street parking!

The Winter 2013-14 Schedule:
  • Tuesday: 7:30-9:00 PM
  • Thursday: 7:30-9:00 PM
  • Saturday: 6:30-8:00 AM and 3:30-5:00 PM
  • Sunday: 6:30-8:00 AM and 3:30-5:00 PM

The pool is in the building on the SW corner of Dodge and Church.

STATE MEET A SUCCESS

The Wild Catfish hosted the ILMSA 2013 State Meet April 25-29 2013 at Glenbrook South High School in Glenview, Illinois. Results are posted.

The 2013 ILMSA State Meet was the second largest meet in USMS this year (Nationals was the largest). Our Illinois State Meet was larger than YMCA Masters Nationals. A record number of ILMSA records were broken, and we witnessed three USMS records from 50-year-old Dave Sims: 1:59.26 200 fly, 2:00.56 200 IM and 4:21.91 400IM.

Big thanks to all volunteers and swimmers for making this a successful meet.

CATFISH SWIM NATIONALS

Congratulations Wild Catfish T.R. Raese for winning the 50 back at USMS Nationals. T.R. won the M 40+ by swimming the 50 in 25.23 seconds. Congratulations to Ann Stevens and Henrietta Berning for two first place relay performances in the 75+ age group.

TOP TEN PICK

Our practice pool (fall, winter, spring) was featured on the website Swim Swam as one of the top ten must-visit sites for a swim meet in the United States.
